Since February 14, 2018 I made the decision to stop using all my social media platforms all together for 40-days. This meant not having notifications, e-mails, or even any access to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. I was not ready nor prepared for the things I learned about my self and those around me.

I started working at a very early age. Through my years in college, I was always told that having an extensive work experience might be your one-way ticket of earning a good (“dream job”) by the time you graduate. When I was younger, I aspired to be a well-paid lawyer; helping people and of course making enough ends meet. When I landed my first job as a waitress, those dreams and ideas changed.
For all students, graduating, those who are just starting their freshmen year or those who are job hunting. I have some interesting things to share with you from the point of view of a student and HR. If you want to know why you might be 'overqualified' or don't know how to increase your chances to get the job, click the read more button to find out!
A few weeks ago I got a presentation from a man who is a job coach for people with disabilities.
To be honest after that presentation, it got me thinking ever since. For some reason I started to question why is it that employers don't give people with one or more disabilities the opportunity to get a job at their establishments? Or even yet, why don't we give them the chance to show their capabilities and talents? Did you know that BULLYING exists in the work place and even at this age as adults?
Did you know that PEER PRESSURE doesn't only happen with children and teens, but adults PEER PRESSURE each other as well into doing negative things, especially at work? In almost every organization, company, or work place, multiple adults have experienced Peer Pressure and Bullying in one way or another. Bullying: "A person is bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons, and he or she has difficulty defending himself or herself." "When position, hierarchy, and ego leaves no space for humbleness, equality and happy faces."
I know I promised to make a small article on this one!
Its a new year, you've probably been thinking about finding a job, or you might already be job hunting. This article is especially dedicated and focused for students who will be starting their internship soon or might be job hunting. I always get questions from students who get all nervous when they have an interview to attend to or don't even know how to start. In a nutshell I have pin pointed a few important things that employers and as HR we look for in candidates! First thing's first: DO NOT PANIC! Seriously, panicking will not make it any better and will only make you nervous for your interview. Remember you only get ONE chance to make a FIRST GOOD impression, so make a good one!
